The Network Magic software has been discontinued a long time ago making it impossible to enjoy the full version since no activation server is available.
I recommend choosing other applications to be able to monitor and manage your network. I know that no application replicates the functionality of Network Magic, but there are others with features good enough. For example, you can try Spiceworks or PRTG Network Monitor.
Network Magic never recognizes that I am connected to the Internet. I am on DSL through a Qwest modem.

As far as I know, Network Magic is an application that has been discontinued without any possibility of using it anymore. The problem is related to activation, and since you can't reactivate it, certain functions won't work properly. I recommend using something else instead of Network Magic.
As alternative with better support options and features, SpiceWorks can do the job really good. Give it a try through the following page: http://spiceworks.software.informer.com/
Note: Click on the download button to initiate the download.

Try using Revo Uninstaller. Even if it can't uninstall the application normally, it will force it to uninstall by wiping out all traces of its presence from the system.
Once Revo finishes the procedure, restart the application and then look through the applications list to see if the program is still there.
Revo will also take care of registry left overs and any obsolete files that belong to Pure Magic application.
Some time ago Network Magic used an online server to activate but the product was discontinued. You can't use its full features if there is no way to activate the product. Cisco Support offers no way to overcome this error.
It seems that I can't active Network Magic on one of the computers from the home network. When I try to activate it I receive an "Activation server is not available" message. Can you help?

Unfortunately, the application has been discontinued by its developer and it is no longer supported. Its servers are down and no longer updated. There is no way to activate the product.
You can use its own uninstaller to remove the application from your computer but in case this step fails to complete, then you can try using Revo Uninstaller. Even if it can't uninstall the application normally, it will force it to uninstall by wiping out all traces of its presence from the system.
Note: Since the application controls network components, your network adapter may reset a few times before the uninstall procedure completes.

In order to fix the issue, go to Start, type services.msc and open the utility. Locate he Pure Networks Platform Service and right-click on its icon and select Automatic as Startup type. After that, reboot your computer and try to use it again.
If it doesn't work, go to (C:) > Program Files > Pure Networks > Network Magic > Support folder and double click the serveme launcher. Right-click the Network Magic icon and select Stop NmService. After that, right-click on the program icon from System Tray, select Delete NetworkLib.xml and then press Force First Run.
I upgraded the program from Trend Micro Internet Security to Internet Security Pro. Its new Firewall Settings now prevent me from accessing Network Magic's shared folders on my wife's PC and vice versa. I can get access to Network Magic's shared folders if I turn off Trend Micro's firewall and use Windows firewall. Is this OK?

Yes, this is OK, but I suggest you first to scan that shared folders from your wife PC. Also, to not keep your antivirus firewall disabled, you can use the Add an Exception feature. Open Trend Micro Internet Security Pro and go to Personal Firewall > Settings. Check the Activate the Personal Firewall box and press Advanced Settings. In the Program Control tab, click Add and type Network Magic in the Description field. Use the Target option to navigate to Network Magic installation folder and open its executable file. After that, from Settings go to Advanced and click Add. For Connection select Both option, for Response select Allow, for Protocol choose TCP/UDP and check the All Ports box. In the Types select IP address (IPv4) and enter your wife computer IP address. Also, you can type the hostname and click Resolve to get the IP address. After that, click twice OK and restart the antivirus.
The website is not working. Product cannot be installed, because the "Registration Server" is down. Are all the customers (users) being castigated for the take-over by Cisco?!

There is a known problem with the existing customers of Network Magic. There is no possibility to activate it anymore because the servers are no longer updated and online. Since the router division was acquired by Belkin, the servers for Network Magic don't work anymore therefore making the activation impossible.
I am trying to re-install Network Magic. I get two error messages:
insufficient memory (I have 6GB of memory so I ignore this one)
incompatibility issue with version of Windows (click here to check). When I click on that link nothing happens.
What should I do?

Network Magic isn't supported anymore. The application has been discontinued. There is no way to install it or use it. However, you can apply a compatibility tweak. Right click the setup package and select Properties > Compatibility and choose Windows XP Service Pack 3.
Even if you manage to install it, the software will require activation, but that won't be possible since the activation servers are not working anymore. I have encountered the same error as you, and still haven't found a way to activate it.
